Chapter 01 · The card

The Quro card in your hand

Your server just handed you a small card with a QR code and your bill. That card is Quro — the fastest way to pay your check without waiting for a terminal. Five seconds with your phone and you're done.

Chapter 02 · The scan

Scan the card

Point your phone camera at the QR on the front of the card. A link pops up at the top of your screen — tap it. Quro opens in your browser within two seconds.

1
Open your camera
No QR app needed. Both iPhone and Android cameras detect the code automatically.
2
Point at the QR
Hold your phone six to twelve inches from the card. A yellow link appears at the top of the screen.
3
Tap the link
Quro opens. The restaurant's name appears at the top so you know you're in the right place.
A My camera isn't picking up the QR expand_more
Three quick fixes: move closer or farther (six to twelve inches is the sweet spot), wipe the lens with your sleeve, and make sure the table lamp isn't reflecting straight off the card. If you're on an older iPhone, check Settings → Camera → Scan QR Codes is on.
Chapter 03 · The photo

Photograph your bill

The Quro page asks you to take a single photo of your bill. That's how it knows the amount to charge — no typing required.

priority_high
Two things must be in frame
1. The little government QR code at the bottom of your bill (Revenu Québec adds this to every restaurant receipt). 2. The total amount printed on the bill. Quro reads both — the QR gives a precise total, the printed total is the backup.
1
Centred
Lay the bill flat. Put both the gov't QR and the total in the middle of the frame.
2
Well lit
Move the bill toward a lamp or candle. Avoid your own shadow falling across it.
3
Steady
Both hands, one breath, then tap. Sharper photos read faster.
A Quro couldn't read my photo. Now what? expand_more
You'll fall through to a manual screen where you just type the total. Same Stripe checkout at the end — no dead ends, ever.
Chapter 04 · Pay

Confirm & pay

Quro reads the bill and shows you the amount. You confirm it (or correct it), add a tip if you like, and pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or your card. Five seconds from confirm to "paid".

1
Confirm the amount
Quro shows you the total it read from the photo. Tap the number to change it if it's off. You always get the last word — Quro never auto-pays.
2
Add a tip
Pick a preset, type a custom amount, or skip. Your call.
3
Pay how you want
Apple Pay, Google Pay, or any card. Authorize with Face ID, Touch ID, or your bank's app — exactly like any other tap-to-pay.
shield
Built on Stripe
Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1) handles the payment. Same rails as Apple, Lyft, and Shopify checkouts. Quro never sees your card number.
Chapter 05 · The return

Hand the card back

You're done — but the card isn't. It's reusable, and the next guest at the next table needs it just as much as you did. Leave it on the table or hand it to your server before you walk out.

Chapter 01 · Foundation

What is Quro?

Quro is a way to pay your check at a restaurant without waiting for a card terminal. You scan the QR code on your table, see your bill on your phone, and pay with the wallet you already use — Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a card. No app to download.

timer
Seconds, not minutes

From scan to "paid" in roughly three seconds. You leave when you're ready, not when the terminal arrives.

block
No app required

Your phone's camera opens the link. No App Store detour, no signup, no password to remember.

contactless
Your wallet, your way

Pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or any credit / debit card — same as any other tap-to-pay you've used.

Chapter 02 · The scan

Scanning the table

Each table at a Quro restaurant has a small QR code — usually on a stand on the table or at the corner. That QR is the entrance to your check.

1
Open your camera
No QR app needed. Both iPhone and Android cameras detect the code automatically.
2
Point at the QR
Hold your phone six to twelve inches away. A yellow link will appear at the top of the screen.
3
Tap the link
Quro opens in your browser within two seconds. The restaurant's name and your table number appear at the top.
A My camera isn't picking up the QR expand_more
Three quick fixes:
  • Move closer or farther — most cameras want six to twelve inches.
  • Wipe the lens with your sleeve. A smudge is the usual culprit.
  • Make sure the table light isn't reflecting directly off the QR.
If you're on an older iPhone, open Camera and toggle Settings → Camera → Scan QR Codes on.
B Can two of us scan the same QR? expand_more
Yes. Each scan creates an independent checkout, so anyone at the table can pay their own portion. Splitting the bill is just two scans, two payments, done.
Chapter 03 · The check

Reading your bill

Once you've scanned, you'll see your check rendered as a clean list — every item, with prices, taxes, and the running total at the bottom. No squinting at carbon paper.

receipt_long
Itemised, not summarised

Every line on your check shows up — the espresso, the toast, the side of butter — with its individual price. No mystery fees.

calculate
Taxes calculated for you

Quebec taxes (TPS 5% + TVQ 9.975%) are computed automatically and shown as a separate line. The total is the total — no math required.

flag
Something looks off?

If an item is missing or extra, flag your server before paying. They can adjust the check on their side and you'll see the update instantly.

Chapter 04 · Gratuity

Adding a tip

After you've reviewed the check, Quro shows tip suggestions — typically 15%, 18%, and 20% of the pre-tax subtotal. Tap the one you want, or enter a custom amount.

info
Good to know
Tips on Quro go straight through to the restaurant — no platform commission, no skimmed percentage. The amount you tip is the amount the staff sees.
A I don't want to tip / no service was provided expand_more
Tap No tip or enter 0 in the custom field. Quro never auto-applies a tip — you're always in control of the amount.
B Tip on pre-tax or post-tax? expand_more
Quro suggests percentages on the pre-tax subtotal — that's the standard etiquette in Canada. If you prefer to tip on the after-tax total, just type the dollar amount directly.
Chapter 05 · Pay

Apple Pay & Google Pay

The fastest way to pay on Quro is the wallet that's already on your phone. If you've ever tapped to pay at a coffee counter, you already know how this works.

phone_iphone
iPhone (Apple Pay)

Tap Pay on Quro. Your iPhone shows the Apple Pay sheet. Double-click the side button, look at the screen, and you're done.

android
Android (Google Pay)

Tap Pay. Google Pay opens. Confirm with your fingerprint or face unlock. The payment sheet closes itself.

credit_card
Card directly

Don't have a wallet set up? Type your card number on the secure Stripe form. It's still encrypted end-to-end — just a few seconds slower.

A I don't have Apple Pay or Google Pay set up expand_more
You can pay with a card directly. If you'd like to set up Apple Pay or Google Pay for next time, it takes about two minutes:
  • iPhone: Open the Wallet app → tap + → follow the camera prompts to add your card.
  • Android: Install Google Wallet from the Play Store → tap Add to Wallet → photograph your card.
Both wallets are issued by your bank, not by Quro — your card details stay between you and your bank.
B The payment sheet didn't appear expand_more
Two checks:
  • Make sure you're on Safari (iPhone) or Chrome (Android) — those are the only browsers Apple/Google Pay supports for web.
  • Confirm the card in your wallet hasn't expired. Open Wallet / Google Wallet to verify.
Still stuck? Tap the card option to pay manually — it always works.
Chapter 06 · Proof

Your receipt

The moment your payment confirms, Quro emails you a clean PDF receipt — itemised, tax-line, tip-line, the works. Most guests have it in their inbox before they stand up.

forward_to_inbox
Sent within seconds

As soon as Stripe confirms the charge, the receipt is sent to the email you used at checkout.

picture_as_pdf
PDF, expense-ready

It's a real PDF with the merchant's legal name, taxes broken out by line, and a transaction reference. Drop it into your expenses tool as-is.

replay
Lost it? Resend.

From the confirmation screen on your phone, tap Email me again. The receipt is regenerated and resent on the spot.

Chapter 07 · Help

Refunds & getting help

Something went wrong? Refunds and corrections always go through the restaurant first — they're the only ones who can adjust your check. Here's the path.

A I was charged for an item I didn't order expand_more
Flag a server before you leave the table — they can correct the check on their side. If you've already left, email the restaurant directly with your receipt attached. They process the refund through Stripe and the credit appears on your card within 5–10 business days.
B I paid twice by accident expand_more
Quro's checkout has a duplicate-payment guard, but if a double charge does occur, the restaurant can refund the duplicate immediately from their dashboard. Show your two receipts and the staff can confirm in seconds.
C Quro wasn't working at all expand_more
If the QR is unresponsive or the page won't load, the restaurant can always take payment the traditional way. Once you're home, drop us a note at hello@quro.ca with the table and time so we can investigate.
Chapter 08 · Privacy

Your privacy at the table

Quro's checkout is intentionally isolated from third-party trackers. The only data we hold is what's needed to process your payment and email your receipt.

visibility_off
No ad-tech, no analytics

There are zero advertising trackers, social pixels, or behavioural-analytics scripts on the customer checkout. Your meal is not a marketing event.

key
Card number never touches us

When you pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay, your real card number never leaves your phone. When you pay by card, the form is hosted by Stripe — encrypted in flight, never stored by Quro.

badge
What the restaurant sees

Just the table, the items, the amount, and an email for the receipt. Not your name, not your phone, not your contact list — none of it.

shield
Built on Stripe
All payments are processed by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1). The same payment rails that power Apple, Lyft, and Shopify checkouts.
